Compliance: Laws and Regulations
Gator Shredding is HIPAA, FACTA, and IRS compliant. We go through great measures to ensure that all documents and media are disposed of in a secure and confidential manner by producing a smaller shred than our competitors.
The Importance of Compliance
If you work within an industry with regulated privacy laws, you’ll likely need to adhere to specific processing guidelines for the safe disposal of personally identifiable information (PII). Compliance isn’t just a concern for legal reasons; many customers and clients now request guarantees of certification and demonstration of past risk assessments.
Companies found in violation of compliance standards face legal battles, expensive fines, and in some cases, legal charges. Outsourcing your document shredding to a certified and verified shredding company does two things to prevent these outcomes. First, you effectively transfer the responsibility of proper disposal to a company that has built its reputation on careful adherence to privacy laws. Second, you retain control of more of your company’s resources, such as employee time and operational expenses, that can be directed toward other goals.
Compliance isn’t simple, but with the help of a document shredding company, it can be easy.

Compliant Document Shredding Since 2002
We take great measures to ensure that all documents and media are disposed of in a secure and confidential manner. Containers are filled with the items to be shredded and locked prior to leaving the building. The items are then transferred into our mobile unit shredder and destroyed on location.
WHAT TO SHRED
When it comes to what should be shredded, the rule of thumb is: does it contain personally identifiable information (PII)? PII is any information that can be tied to a specific individual, like a name, address, or account number. A thief or fraudster only needs a few pieces of PII to compromise your identity, which is why it’s advisable to shred any item that contains even a single instance of PII.

We are committed to protecting the environment
All shredded material is taken to our secure facility where it is baled and sent to the paper mill to be recycled into items such as paper towels, toilet paper and/or napkins. Recycling paper saves trees, conserves water and reduces the amount of waste going to landfills.
